Children and Youth Mental Health
In the fall of 2017, the United Way of Calgary and Area embarked on a project to explore the existing continuum of mental health services for children, youth, families, and their natural supports in Calgary. Building off this report, The Social Impact Lab is seeking to create new mechanisms to improve access to mental health supports and services for children and youth.
The specific purposes of this work were to:
- Conduct a review of community-based mental health services and supports for children, youth, families and their natural supports in Calgary in order to identify system gaps and barriers or challenges to access; and,
- Make recommendations for addressing identified gaps and challenges so as to improve the continuum of mental health care for children and youth in the city.
The Lab is currently actioning the recommendations of the report by exploring ideas and new solutions to improve mental health supports.
